Your sips stay on your iPhone. Your journal and caffeine calculations are local. Purchases, paywall activity, website requests, and messages you send us are handled separately, as explained below.
Who we are
Mello and this website are provided by Harry Zachariou (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for personal information we process to operate Mello and respond to support requests. For privacy questions or requests, contact hczdev1@gmail.com.
Your drink data
Mello stores your drink journal, saved drinks, caffeine amounts and times, daily targets, bedtime, half-life setting, and other app preferences on your iPhone. Caffeine calculations happen on the device. There is no Mello account or cloud sync, and we do not receive your drink history on a server or use it for advertising.
Your iPhone’s backup settings may include Mello’s app data in an Apple or computer backup. Those backups are separate from Mello and are controlled through your device and Apple settings.
Widgets and reminders
Home Screen widgets read a protected snapshot shared locally between Mello and its widget extension. The snapshot includes aggregate caffeine estimates, relevant preferences, and your last verified Pro access. It does not contain drink names or your full journal. Snapshots expire after 24 hours.
If you enable the optional evening reminder, Apple’s notification system stores a local daily schedule. You can turn it off in Mello or withdraw notification permission in your iPhone’s settings. We do not run a push-notification server for this reminder.
Purchases and Superwall
Apple processes App Store payments. Superwall provides Mello’s paywalls and helps verify access to Pro. This involves purchase and subscription status, transaction-related identifiers, an app-generated user identifier, device and app information, and app or paywall interaction events. These services can operate even though Mello does not ask you to create an account.
We do not send your drink journal, saved drink names, or caffeine calculations to Superwall. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Purchase and paywall information is used to provide and restore Pro, operate purchase screens, understand their performance, and troubleshoot problems.
See Apple’s privacy information and Superwall’s privacy policy for their practices.
Support and this website
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to answer you and resolve your request. Email is handled by our email provider, Google. Please do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
This website does not use advertising pixels, analytics scripts, or a mailing-list form. Fonts and images are served with the site. The website’s hosting infrastructure may process ordinary request information, including IP address, browser information, requested pages, and timestamps, to deliver and protect the site. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies.
Why information is processed
Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on performing our agreement with you to provide purchased features and purchase-related support; our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, maintaining reliable services, and understanding paywall performance; and legal obligations where records must be retained by law. Optional device permissions remain under your control.
You do not need to send a support message to use Mello. If you choose not to provide information needed to investigate a problem, we may be unable to resolve that particular request.
Your choices and rights
Delete individual entries by swiping left in Journal, and manage saved drinks in Settings → My drinks. Deleting Mello removes its local app data; offloading the app preserves it. Backups, purchase records, and support messages are separate. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a portable copy of personal information we hold. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise these rights, email hczdev1@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity. We cannot access or retrieve a journal stored only on your device.
You can complain to your local data-protection authority. In the UK, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children’s privacy
Mello is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through support. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to Mello or how information is handled. The date at the top shows the latest revision. We will provide additional notice of significant changes when required.
